West Michigan is in for a
rare treat this Summer Solstice as Six Crows Alliance presents HOUSE OF
MASKS, a 2-act "back alley circus" style story told through
dance, hand drumming, music and song, video and images. The spectacle includes
belly dance, fire dancing and spinning, hand drumming, flute, sitar, guitar and
song unplugged, all against a kaleidoscope of special effects and light show,
as the players portray the masks we (society) don as we maneuver
consumerism. |
|
 |
The entertainment value for the 2.5-hour program (including
intermission) is outrageous at $10/person.
RAMA'S HAREM, a popular West Michigan dance troupe, highlights the show
with their artful belly dancing spiced up with daring, mesmerizing, and
slightly terrifying fire dancing and spinning, accompanied by music and
|
spectacular costuming and props
that help tell their impassioned, articulate story. Their shimmy and shake will
keep you awake as they bedazzle and beguile in masterful style.
DAMARU, master hand percussionist celebrating three decades of drumming,
studio recording artistry, and band work in 2014, catches fire in his own
right. In addition to punctuating parts of the story through his eager
accompaniment, Damaru will be unleashing his own unique pulse and rousing
rhythm and timbre. He also incorporates a light show and video to give the
audience a multi-dimensional experience.
Opening for Rama's Harem and Damaru is the melodic unplugged COPPER
WOMAN on guitar. The talented West Michigan singer and musician is a
commanding presence in her gentle and folksy manner. Our featured performers
will also be joined by two guest performers, Rob Monty with soothing
sounds of the sitar and flute performing with Damaru, and Belly and Fire Dancer
Laura Unaeze performing with Rama's Harem.
